GOVERNMENT-run J J hospital’s dean and Padmashree Dr TP Lahane has been booked by police for allegedly using unparliamentary language and threatening a sweeper of the hospital.

According to J J Marg police, Lahane was visiting hospital’s wards on a routine visit on Friday morning. Dr Lahane spotted the complainant Naresh Waghela (35) refraining other sweepers from performing their duties.

“A group of sweepers including Waghela are on strike for the past few days. As one of his colleagues were working, Waghela was forcing his colleague to join the strike. The complainant claimed that Dr Lahane saw this and abused and threatened him,” said an officer of JJ Marg police station. “Based on the allegations we have booked Dr Lahane under relevant sections of IPC and Prevention of Atrocities Act. Investigation is going on,” officer added.

Speaking to media Lahane said, “I told Waghela not to stop others from doing their duty. Enraged Waghela started arguing with me and in fact he used unacceptable language towards me.”
