Modi meets Lalkrishna Advani
INDIA’s future Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met to senior leaders of his Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) including party patriarch Lalkrishna Advani to begin the process of forming a government. While the date for Modi’s swearing-in is yet to be finalized, it is learnt that May 24 is being considered.
Modi met to Advani at his residence just after noon. He discussed for the first formal meeting with him. Although it is not cleared that on what had been discussed between Modi and Advani, sources said it had to do with the role the party veteran could play in the new dispensation and also on Modi’s possible Cabinet plans. Since Advani, who was deputy PM in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, cannot be part of his junior’s Cabinet, the post of Lok Sabha Speaker is being considered for him. It is learnt that the final call, however will be taken by Modi in consultation with RSS chief Mohanrao Bhagwat.
On Sunday, top BJP leaders were meeting-discussing to each other in Gujarat Bhavan on issue of forming new government.
