A woman chain snatcher has adopted a  unique idea to snatch gold chain. Yasmin Jamaal Shaikh alias Paro alias Reshma alias Chorni would target woman devotees only on Thursdays, and only in Dargah, during the Dhoop-Lohban smoke.

Last week, the Sewri police arrested Chorni. 24-year-old Chorni is resident of Antop Hill. She is pregnant. The police have arrested her under section 392 (robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are looking for her accomplice who fled with the stolen gold chain.
“During Dhoop-Lohban smoke there is low visibility and Chorni targets the women,” said a police officer from Sewree police station.

According to police, Chorni was caught red handed while she was snatching gold chain in Miradatar Dargah at Darukhana in Sewree. The victim an 18-year-old girl is a resident of Pratiksha Nagar, Sion. As Chorni snatched her chain, victim held her hand. Taking advantage of low visibility, Chorni passed chain to her accomplice who ran away from the spot. The devotees handed her over to Sewree police. Police Sub Inspector R. Jadhav is the investigating officer in the matter.

During interrogation police found out that Chorni had committed similar crimes also in Antop Hill and Kurla police station’s  jurisdiction.
