Ulhasnagar Journalist awarded by Maharashtra State Sindhi Sahitya Academy

THE Maharashtra State Sindhi Sahitya Academy has awarded an Ulhasnagar based journalist Ashok Pinjani for the year 2018-2019. 

Last week in a function held at Town Hall, Ulhasnagar-3, Ashok Pinjani received the award from Santosh Khankar, Joint Director of the academy in presence of Dr Gurumukh Jagwani, acting president of the academy.  Academy awarded Ashok Pinjani with a trophy, a certificate and Rs 25,000. 

43-year-old Ashok Pinjani publishes the Sindhi daily “Town Darshan” since last 23 years in Ulhasnagar. His daily column “Sachche Ho To Nacho” is extremely popular in the city.

Journalism is in Ashok Pinjani’s blood. After the partition his grandfather Holaram Pinjani shifted from Pakistan to Ulhasnagar and settled down there. He used to work in Sindhi newspaper Hindustan, publishing from Mumbai. Later he started his own Sindhi daily by name Sindhri, a popular newspaper among Sindhi community. Later Holaram’s son and Ashok’s father Kamal Pinjani published Sahkar Sandesh, a Hindi daily. 

Sahkar Sandesh was like a school for young journalists. Kamal Pinjani set an example of unbiased and daredevil journalism. Ashok’s brother Kishore Pinjani is also associated with Town Darshan.

The lots of Ulhasnagar citizens and journalists have congratulated Ashok Pinjani for this praiseworthy achievement.
