THE Washim unit of Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), arrested Balkrishna Pundalik Lahe (51) and Mohan Lakshmanrao Talokar, meter reader, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, water management, sub – division, Karanja, Washim for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000.

According to the press note issued by the ACB, the complainant had applied for a new connection of water connections. Lahe and Talokar demanded a bribe of Rs. 500 each adding upto Rs. 1,000. The complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint against the duo.

On April 23, 2014, the ACB set a trap at Gajanan tea centre, near bandstand chowk, Karanja, Washim and arrested the duo while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000. An FIR has been registered against Lahe and Talokar in Karanja Police Station, Washim under sections 7, 13, (1), (D) and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The investigation was carried under the guidance of Superintendent of Police, Arvind Salve, Additional Superintendent of Police R. S. Tadvi of ACB Amravati and Deputy Superintendent of police V. M. Avhale of ACB Washim and Police Inspector U. A. Jadhav of ACB, Vashim investigated the matter. The further investigation in the matter is still under process.

Appeal

The ACB Washim has appeals to report to the ACB if any government official indulges in corruption or demands bribe, on office no.: 07252 – 235933 and 9405384301.
