THE Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Gondia on Thursday arrested rural development officer D.L. Manker for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000 from the complainant.

According to ACB, the complainant is a professional photographer. He used to click photographs even shoot the events, programs held under government organisation and gram panchayat jurisdiction on a contract basis.

The complainant had clicked the photographs of various beneficiaries in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment guarantee program (MNREGA) held under Gram Panchayat Pipriya.

The complainant submitted bill application of Rs 13, 496 and approached to Rural Development Officer D.L. Manker where he demanded Rs.1,000 as commission to pass the bill.

Having no wish to give bribe, complainant approached to ACB office and registered complaint against D.L. Manker. Acting on complaint on August 21, 2014 ACB officials laid a trap in ATS Photo Studio in salekasa and arrested Manker while accepting bribe of Rs.1, 000 from the complainant.

The accused Manekar has been booked under prevention of corruption act and the complaint has been registered in Salekasa police station in Gondia District.
