THE Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Thane officials have unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from a search operation conducted in the house of arrested Deputy Sales Tax Commissioner, Ramesh Bhagoji Jaid. He is partner in a construction firm.

According to the press note issued by ACB, Jaid and Archies Uday Visariya, Sales Tax Practitioner were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 Lakhs. The ACB had registered an FIR against accused in Manpada police station, Dombivali.

On April 30 officials searched residence of Jaid. They unearthed that Jaid has invested in five flats on his wife, daughter, son-in-law and brothers’ name in Dombivali, Dadar, Kharghar and Pune. He has four shops in Kharghar, Badlapur and Pune on his wife and grandson’s name. His wife is a partner in Software Computer Education firm. He has also partnership in Gurukripa developers on his wife and relatives name. He has invested Rs 1, 40,60,0000 in this firm. Rs 1, 50,000 cash deposited in bank accounts. He himself uses Honda City car and Activa motor bike but has bought on his son-in-law’a name.

On Thursday he was produced in court where he was remanded in police custody till May 5.
