THE Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), arrested the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), C-ward officer Rahul Namdev Bansode for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3,000.

According to ACB officials; the complainant is a street hawker and sells cloths at Marine Lines, South Mumbai. Two weeks before Rahul Bansode, the labour in-charge in C-ward took the complainant and his neighbor hawkers merchandise under his custody and kept it in custody at Girgaon godown of BMC. He had a meeting with complainant and other hawkers to release the merchandise from custody, Bansode demanded Rs. 3,800. When the complainant asked for receipt he refused to give receipt and demanded Rs. 3,500 more to avoid legal trail for future. The complainant negotiated with Bansode and reduced the bribe amount to Rs. 2,500.

On July 5, 2014, complainant approached ACB and registered a complaint. According to their instruction complainant spoke to Bansode and set a meeting with him to meet at Fanaswadi, Girgaon after which the ACB set a trap.

On July 5, 2014 ACB officials arrested Bansode from Fanaswadi, Girgaon while accepting a bribe Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 500 extra were recovered from him summing upto Rs 3,000.
