THE Central Police Station in Ulhasnagar-2 has registered an FIR of extortion and molestation against Manoj Sayani alias Lassi. Three more persons, Sunil Gupta, Priya Gupta and Naresh Gaikwad, have been also booked under same sections with Lassi.
On December 12, 2015, the police registered an FIR (copy with ABI) against Lassi under sections 353, 354, 332, 384, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on a complaint by Yuvraj Dhondu Bhadane, an Assistant Commissioner and Public Relation Officer (PRO) in the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC). Bhadane is also holds charge of general administration department (GAD) and Legal department.
According to the FIR, a UMC security guard, Sunil Gupta, had applied to be moved to the post of Sepoy. Gupta submitted two request letters, one from opposition leader Narendra Kumari Thakur and another from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) (Youth) leader Naresh Gaikwad.
“As per law it was not possible and also Gupta was not fit for duty as he was not performing his duty properly. Recently he was absent from duty for seven to eight days without acknowledgement of department,” said Bhadane.
Priya Gupta, relative of Sunil Gupta, who is also leader of NCP woman wing, was forcing Bhadane to transfer Sunil to Sepoy post.
On December 29, 2015, around 5pm Priya Gupta and Naresh Gaikwad met Bhadane in UMC headquarters. Priya inquired about Sunil Gupta’s application. Bhadane replied that the matter was under process. Hearing this, Priya slapped Bhadane, held his collar and threw around the files. Naresh Gaikwad pushed him. Security guards Gyaneshwar Huna Pawar, Sampada Bharat Rane and Kiran Suresh Rajput and Sepoy Rohit Kishor Kankar and Sanjay Tukaram Patil mediated.
Priya Gupta tried to run away but women security guards caught her. Lassi appeared there. Pushing on a security guard’s breast, Lassi removed Priya Gupta from their hold. He also threatened them.
CCTV footage clearly shows Priya Gupta slapping Bhadane but ironically she registered a molestation FIR against Bhadane.
After discussing the matter with Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Headquarters) Nitin Kapadnis and Commissioner Manohar Hire, Bhadane registered an FIR against the accused.
It should be noted that Manoj Lassi is the self-proclaimed personal secretary of the Kalani family. Former Mafia man and now politician Suresh Budharmal Kalani alias Pappu is currently cooling his heels in jail in a murder case. There are two attempt to murder cases have been registered against Lassi. Manoj Lassi is co-opted Councillor from the NCP and illegal group leader in UMC. He is infamous for extorting money for his boss Pappu Kalani. Bhadane claimed Lassi demanded money from him on several occasions. Once he said, “Tum Bodare brothers (Chandrakant Bodare and Dhananjay Bodare) aur Bhullar Maharaj ko hafta dete ho to mujhe bhi Rs 50,000 dena padega.”
Journalist-turned-bureaucrat Bhadane is known for action against illegal construction. Kalani gang dislikes action against illegal construction or other illegal activities in the city. Once Pappu Kalani himself beat up Bhadane over illegal construction removal.
