In a very shocking incident, a 20-year-old youth have been arrested by Wadala Truck Terminus (WTT) police for allegedly raping his 15-year-old real sister. The accused was allegedly raping his minor sister since two years whenever he would find her alone at her home in a slum area at Wadala.
According to the police, the family is a native of Fathehpur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused works as plumber and is alone bread earner in the family. The accused’s father is farmer and settled in Uttar Pradesh. His mother left family five year back. The accused have an 18-year old brother and a 13-year-old sister. Suhas Garud, senior inspector of the WTT police station told media, “The girl had complained to her father about month ago but he ignored and did not pay attention.”
On March 14, an awareness programme on crime against woman and child was organized at victim’s school. As the programme over the girl narrated everything to her. Her teacher informed Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and CWC members then brought the girl to the police station. Police registered FIR and arrested her brother.
The accused has been booked under section 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code and sections 4 (committing penetrative sexual assault), 8 (punishment for sexual assault) and 12 (committing sexual harassment) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
