A builder has shamed his community by slapping a cancer patient who was only demanding that the flat allotted to him in a newly constructed building should face the direction that was promised to him. The cancer patient has registered a complaint at the DN Nagar police station.

The builder was identified as Agrawal builder and the victim is Ankit Brahmbhatt. Agrawal builder redeveloped Shree Sundervan Society in DN Nagar, Andheri (West). Ankit has a flat (No. 786) in this building. The controversy was created since the starting of the project as builder cut the electricity and water connection. He forcibly vacated the flat. Ankit approached then joint commissioner of police (Crime) Meera Borvankar against goondagardi and inhuman activities of the builder Baldev Rao Agrawal’s son Rajesh Agrawal and Sanjay Agrawal. DN Nagar police were hand-in-glove with the builder and did not take any action against them. After intervention of Borvankar, builder stopped harassing them. Since then matter was normal.

On May 29, 2016, Ankit went to builder’s officer to collect the allotment letter. Builder handed over the allotment letter but not the apartment key. Ankit’s original flat had been front facing and Agrawal had promised him the same in the new flat, but allotted him a back facing one. Ankit’s mother Sumitra Brahmbhatt, who is a widow, requested Rajesh Agrawal to change the flat facing but an angry Rajesh came very close to her and started threatening her. “Tum logon ne shuru se hame bahut pareshan kiya hai. Ab flat ke direction ko lekar natak kar rahe ho. Ab jo mil raha hai le lo, nahin to ye bhi nahin milega,” Rajesh Agrawal said to Sumitra.

As Rajesh Agrawal was standing very close to Sumitra, her son Ankit requested him to keep away and talk. Rajesh Agrawal slapped Ankit twice, saying, “Sala netagiri karta hai?’

“Maine Rajesh se request kiya ki meri maan se door khade hokar baat karo. Iss par usey gussa aa gaya aur usne mujhe do thappad maar diye,” said Ankit.

Ankit is suffering from bone cancer and surgery has been done 35 times of his knee. He is also declared severely orthopaedically handicapped. He has severe deformity of the hip with equinus deformity of ankle and his quadriceps function is poor. He cannot walk or stand without help of stick. He fell down and became semi-unconscious.

Ankit and Sumitra approached the DN Nagar police. Police registered only a non-cognizable offence saying it is not a big issue. “I am running from pillar to post to get an FIR registered against errant builder Rajesh Agrawal,” said Ankit.
