THE Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Senior Section Engineer (Works), South-East Central Railway, Tumsar, District. Bhandara (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from the Complainant.

According to CBI spokesperson, a case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against Senior Section Engineer (Works), South-East Central Railway, Tumsar, District Bhandara. It was alleged that the accused demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.40,000 from the Complainant for completing an official work. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs.20,000. Search was conducted at the residential premises of accused. The incriminating documents recovered are under scrutiny.

The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Bhandara (Maharashtra) and remanded to three days Police Custody.

In an another case, CBI has arrested an Assistant Grade-III (Technical), Food Corporation of India(FCI), Depot, Phagwara (Punjab) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from the Complainant. On the basis of a complaint, a case was registered U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against an Assistant Grade-III (Technical), working in the FCI Depot, Phagwara(Punjab), on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the Complainant (A Commission Agent in Kapurthala at Punjab) in lieu of release of the payment of commission of the amount of paddy/wheat supplied. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the Complainant.

The accused was produced in the Competent Court and remanded to 14 days Judicial Custody.
