THE Central Bureau of Investigation CBI) has registers first information report (FIR) in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case. However, the FIR has been registered against unknown person.

“We have registered FIR against unknown person under section 120 (B) and 302 of IPC,” said Kanchan Prasad, spokesperson CBI.

Anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar a resident of Pune was gunned down by motorcycle-borne assailants while he was out for a morning walk on August 20, 2013. Earlier, Pune police was investigating the high-profile case but there was no headway following which a PIL was filed by former journalist Ketan Tirodkar seeking a CBI probe into the case.

On May 9, 2014, the Bombay high court has transferred matter to CBI for further probe observing that the investigation by the Crime Branch (Pune) had reached a dead end and no further progress could be expected.
