THE Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday framed charges against Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and his two other friends in Colaba based Taj Hotel assault case. Khan had allegedly assaulted a South-Africa based NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma and his father-in-law Raman Patel.

According to public prosecutor Wajeed Shaikh, the court framed charges against Khan and his two friends – Bilal Amrohi and Shakeel Ladak – under section 325 (assault) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On February 22, 2012 Colaba police had arrested Saif and his two friends following Sharma filed an FIR after the two allegedly got into a fight at the Wasabi restaurant in Taj Hotel. The trio was later released on bail. The police had filed chargesheet into the matter on December 21, 2012.

Saif was accompanied by his wife Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora and some male friends at the hotel when the brawl broke out. Sharma allegedly protested the raucous chatter of the actor and his friends, Saif allegedly threatened them and subsequently punched Sharma in the nose, fracturing it.

However, justifying their side Saif said that Sharma made provocative statements and rather used abusive language against the actresses and this led to the ruckus.
