SELF proclaimed “Dashing Aamdar” (Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ram Kadam was booked by Ghatkopar police on Monday for cheating and violation of model code of conduct. Ram Kadam is a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Ghatkopar Assembly constituency.

Speaking to media persons, Rajaram Vhanmane, Senior Inspector of Ghatkopar police station said, “we have booked Ram Kadam and two others under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 123 (3), 3 and 7 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to police, vigilance officer B Deoraikar of the Election Commission has registered complaint against the accused. Ram Kadam had allegedly set up an office near a temple in the area from where he also campaigned. Kadam have not taken permission to campaign and secondly political activities are not allowed near or within a religious place.

However, Kadam claimed to have obtained a no objection certification (NOC) from a representative of the temple. Later it turned out that the man who issued the NOC was not authorised to do so. Hence, the person who posed self as the temple representative has also been booked into the matter.

Kadam, who have announced himself as “Dashing MLA” in area was elected on a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) ticket in 2009. He joined BJP last month and was awarded ticket from Ghatkopar for the October 15 polls.
