THE search for the Naval sailor, Vishnu Unni, Sea 1, missing since Saturday after valiantly saving the life of a woman who had jumped along with her six month old child from the Vikrant Venduruthy bridge continues. The sailor has not been traced despite hectic search efforts by the Navy which continued throughout the night yesterday.
According to defense spokesperson, the search efforts will continue till the missing person is found. A dedicated co-ordination cell has been formed in the Naval Base which is controlling all search activities extending the entire stretch of the channel right upto the harbour mouth. Many agencies such as marine police, CSL, Fisheries etc are assisting the Navy in the search process. A total of 12 boats including 09 from the Navy have been pressed into service for finding the sailor. Helicopter sorties are also going on for aerial search.
