The Colaba police have arrested Jayprakash Yadav, a congress leader for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old college student. Yadav was allegedly drunk.
According to police, 40-year-old Jayprakash Yadav is a resident of Jogeshwari (west). He is president of block No 48 from Congress party. He had contested corporation election from ward no 54.
The incident took place on Thursday night, when the victim, who is a class-11 student of a college and also taking class to learn a foreign language, was standing on a bus stop at the Lion’s gate, Colaba.
Yadav holds her hand and then forcibly kissed her in front of public. The girl cried for help. Suddenly a police patrolling team came there and arrested Yadav.
“We have arrested Yadav under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and under relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He is in police custody,” said a police officer from Colaba police station.
