SUNIL Paraskar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Maharashtra police, who has been accused of rape by a Mumbai-based model, got interim protection till July 31. On Friday he has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Mumbai Sessions Court, which granted him interim relief from arrest.
Justifying his side, Paraskar told to the court that the complainant model was part of an escort service. Once she messaged him (when he was abroad) asking him to arrest another controversial model Poonam Pandey. I refused that he couldn’t arrest her without reasonable ground. Paraskar admitted to meeting her couple of times in malls and coffee shops.
Paraskar booked for raping model
Sunil Paraskar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Maharashtra police has been booked under rape charge. A 25-year-old Mumbai based model has accused that Paraskar raped on her a number of occasions on pretext of providing help she sought from him.
The model (name held with ABI to protect her identity) also submitted a proof (video recording) of sexual abuse to police.
An FIR has been registered against Paraskar Malawani police station at a suburban Mumbai. Paraskar currently posted as DIG, Civil Protection Rights in Maharashtra police. Sitting in Maharashtra Police Headquarter.
Speaking to ABI, a top official from Mumbai police confirmed that Paraskar has been booked under sections 376(2)(rape by a police officer), 376 C (Intercourse by superintendent of jail, remand home, etc) and 354(D) (stalking which interferes with the mental peace of a person or causes distress, fear of violence or alarm)” of IPC by Malwani police.
On Wednesday late night Special Squad of Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria went in Malawani police station and registered FIR against Paraskar.
A 1997-batch-IPS officer Paraskar has served as Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) till a few months ago. The complainant model met to Paraskar in 2012 seeking help to him. Model complained that a prostitute (look-alike of her) is misusing her photographs. And on behalf of her police was harassing to her. Paraskar promised to help model.
Since then Paraskar become closed to model. He started sending SMSs to her. 25-year-old model accuses that 57-year-old Paraskar molested once her and raped on several occasions at a three-star hotel in Malad.
On Thursday model met to Rakesh Maria and complained against Paraskar. Maria has reportedly ordered a swift probe.
Police officials are tight lipped and refused to reveal any further details. The probe has been handed over to the women’s cell of the crime branch headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sharda Raut.
