THE Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mumbai has arrested the assistant police inspector (API) attached to CB control of Mumbai police crime branch for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh.

The accused identified as Kailash Ramdas Sangle.

According to the press note issued by ACB, the complainant has a transport cloth business. His four trucks were caught for evading Octroi duty in the month of February.  Acase was registered against him under sections 188, 420, 468, and 471 of the IPC and the complainant was arrested with the truck drivers. The complainant and drivers were out on bail but the trucks were still in the custody of police. The investigating officer in the matter was API Sangle. He allegedly demanded Rs one lakhs to release the truck. The complainant did not want to pay the bribe and hence on April 24, 2014 he approached the ACB, Mumbai to register a complaint against Sangle.

In the investigation by ACB it was proved that Sangle had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh from the complainant.

On April 26, 2014 the ACB set a trap near the Yellow Gate Police station where the Crime Control Branch and Crime Investigation Department is located and arrested Sangle while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh. Sources said Sangle was suspended by the department.
