THE Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur has arrested the wage and accounting officer, Rajendra Krishnarao Poyam of Punjabrao Agricultural University, Nagpur for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 for clearing the bills of the complainant.

The complainant is involved in business of making Flex Boards. In January/ February 2014 he had received a contract of making Flex Boards for the university through a tender. The complainant finished his work and submitted a bill of Rs. 44,360 in the respective department for clearance. The complainant’s bill went to the wage and accounts officer, Poyam for final clearance and preparation of cheque. Poyam demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant to clear the bill and release the payment in his favour.

On April 23, 2014 the complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint against Poyam. After receiving a complaint the ACB investigated the matter and on April 25, 2014 the ACB set a trap at the University to arrest Poyam. Poyam was arrested by the ACB accepting the bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant. A case is registered against Poyam at the Sitabardi police station Nagpur under Prevention of corruption act and a search operation is on at his residence NARP Carvtar, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur.
