UNDERWORLD Don Ejaz Lakadawala’s brother Akeel Yusuf Lakadawala was assaulted inside MCOCA jail in Arthur Road prison. N M Joshi Marg police have booked accused Riyaz Ahmed Shaikh, who is also members of Ejaz Lakadawala gang.
According to police sources incident took place last week. Akeel and Shaikh were produced in MCOCA court in connection with a shootout case of D N Nagar police station. When Shaikh was being escorted back in the Arthur road jail a heated argument broke out between him and Akeel. Shaikh allegedly abused him and tried to snatch his wallet. When Akeel opposed Shaikh smashed his head on his face injuring his nose causing bleeding.
Akeel alleged that Shaikh wanted to extort money from him.
“We have booked Shaikh under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506-II (criminal intimidation) of IPC,” said an officer of N M Joshi Marg police station.
