A 50-year-old father has been arrested by V. P. Road police in South Mumbai for allegedly molesting his own daughter. Brave heart College going girl is 17-year-old.
According to the police, the accused runs a small restaurant in V. P. Road area. He has rented the restaurant. The daughter alleged that her father was sexually harassing her since April 2013. The accused lives in a small house. The daughter alleged that while all family members’ sleep in night the father would touch her private parts.
In May this year daughter told entire episode to her mother. The mother spoke to her husband but he continued his behaviour. This time daughter narrated the ordeal to her college friends, who then took her to the V. P. Road police station and registered the FIR.
Police booked accused under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The accused was produced before the court on Friday and judge remanded him into police custody up to July 17. Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Satish Gore is investigating the matter.
