A 21 –year-old medical student Mahavir Devendra Kumar Mishra has been arrested by Agripada in Central Mumbai for allegedly sexually assaulting to a 10-year-old girl. Mishra has been arrested under sexual assault and molestation sections of the IPC and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Mishra a resident of Saat Raasta, Dhobi Ghaat, Mahalaxmi area is a second year student of BMS in Navi Mumbai College. On Wednesday he received his academic results and has secured first class marks.
According to police Mishra’s elder sister runs tuition classes at her home. The girl and her brother take tuition from Mishra’s sister. The girl on Wednesday around 8pm had gone for tuition at Mishra’s house. The tutor was absent so her mother asked girl to wait on mezzanine floor. The accused was already present there who allegedly sexually assaulted to the girl. Later girl confronted the incident with her mother who approached police.
Mishra was arrested and produced before the court that remanded him in police custody up to August 14.
