POLICE Inspector (PI) Balkrishna Kadam and Constable Sadamate, of Local Crime Branch, Sangli were arrested by the Sangli unit of Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1.25 Lakh.

According to press note issued by ACB, the complainant’s son was arrested by the police and his vehicle was also confiscated by the police. To assist the complaint in recovering the confiscated vehicle of his son, Kadam and constable Sadamate demanded a bribe of Rs. 1.25 lakhs on March 6, 2014. Out of the amount the duo had already accepted Rs. 1 lakh and the complainant had to pay the last installment of Rs. 25,000. The complainant decided to not to fulfill the demands of the PI and Constable, hence he approached ACB, Sangli and registered a complaint against them. The ACB conducted investigations on the basis of the complaint it was proved that the duo had demanded and accepted a bribe and the last installment of the bribe amount was to be handed over to constable Sadamate.

On April 25, 2014 at the Vishram Baug Police Station, Sangli a case was registered against Kadam and Sadamate for demanding and accepting bribe. The duo has been arrested and further investigations in the matter are in progress.
