NARENDRA Bhai Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary leader will take oath as the Prime Minister of the India at Rashtrapati Bhawan at 6 PM on May 26. Modi will be the 14th person to be the Prime Minister of India.

Earlier in the day, Modi was elected as the BJP Parliamentary Party leader on Tuesday. Advani proposed Modi’s name and senior party leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi and Venkaiah Naidu approved it.

After that Modi met President Pranab Mukherjee along with other leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to stake claim to form the government. Later The President given a formal letter (of appointment as the PM) and invited him for oath-taking ceremony on May 26 at 6pm.

While entering the Parliament Modi bent and kissed the steps of Parliament in a mark of respect as he arrived for a meeting of the party’s newly elected lawmakers.

63-year-old Modi broke down during his acceptance speech when he recounted that L K Advani’s had said he did a “favour” to the party by taking up the responsibility. Modi fought back tears during this rare show of emotion, keeping his bowed for several moments while he collected himself. Other BJP leaders including Advani could be seen weeping.

Since May 16, hectic meetings are underway between the BJP and RSS on who gets what ministry in the Modi Cabinet. But the curtain will be raised on May 26 when the oath taking ceremony takes place.
