AFTER Pakistan refused the exchange of sweets on Eid the traditional exchange of sweets between India and Pakistan has been called off. Hence, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday did not make any movement and the border gates remained shut.

According to media reports, the senior commanders from India and Pakistan exchange sweets on occasions of Eid, Deepawali and Independence day along the Wagah land border.

The exchange of sweets on Wagah border is an old tradition between India and Pakistan and has been continuing for many years now.

The sources said during a late evening flag meeting between the sector commanders of Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers (PR) on Sunday, Pakistan refused to exchange the sweets.

The Pakistan Rangers cited no reasons.
