Mahendra Dashrath Gaikwad (49), Police Naik / 378, Talegaon, Dabhade Police Station, Rural Category – 3, Pune aresident of Jadhav Vasti, Pune was arrested by Pune Unit of Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB) fro allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.
According to the Press Note issued by ACB, Pune the complainant was riding the motor-cycle of his friend and was caught hold by Gaikwad. Gaikwad asked the complainant to produce the documents of the motor-cycle which the complainant failed to produce, after which he was taken to teh police station by Gaikwad and was kept under custody for 3 days for no specific reason. After 3 days Gaikwad threatened the complainant of filling a case of robbery if he did not pay Gaikwad a sum of Rs. 10,000 as a bribe amount. The complainant approached the Pune Unit of ACB on April 22, 2014 to register a complaint against Gaikwad.
On April 23, 2014 on the basis of the complaint the ACB, Pune directed the complainant to meet Gaikwad at the Talegaon police station where it had set a trap to arrest him. The complainant stoke a bargain to reduce the bribe amount after which the amount of bribe was set to Rs. 5,000. Gaikwad was arrested by the ACB at 7:45 pm in the Talegaon Police station, Rural Area, Pune for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.
