PRABHAKAR Uttam Kavde, police sub-inspector attached in Gevrai police station was booked for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 by Beed unit of Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The press note issued by ACB, Beed stated that the complainant’s brother was physically assaulted on March 15, 2014 by some people of their village namely Bhausaheb Saundalkar, Anil Saundalkar, Satish Saundalakar and 4 others. Complaint’s brother had registered an FIR with Gevrai police station under sections 307 and 34 of IPC. Kavde was the investigating officer in the matter and demanded Rs. 20,000 for arresting the accused and for carrying on the investigation properly. After a bargain the bribe amount reduced to Rs. 5,000.

The complainant approached the ACB on April 19, 2014 to file a complaint against Kavde for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 5,000 for carrying on the investigation.

The ACB on April 21, 2014 set a trap at the Gevrai police station but Kavde got suspicious about it so he cancelled his meeting with complainant. So he could not be arrested. An FIR is registered against Kavde at the Shivaji nagar Police Station for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 5,000.
