THE robbers sprayed some sleep-inducing powder on family dog and robbed valuables in a locked house at Ambernath in Thane district. The loss of valuables is estimated to be of around Rs. 10, 34, 800, including Rs. 3, 50,000 in cash.
According to the police, the complainant, Prakash Gopal Krishna Nair (52) a Bajaj Electric Parts Dealer is a resident of Plot No-6, Vicky Housing Society, Tadwadi, Ambernath (East).
Nair’s brother-in-law had come with his wife from Hyderabad for the Durga Pooja Function in Ambernath. On October 1, 2014 Nair hired a private vehicle and had gone for ‘Mumbai Darshan’ along with his wife Sheela Nair (50), Brother-in-law and his wife.
They returned at home around 12.45 am. They found their dog ‘Charlie’ was sleeping. It was found almost in an unconscious condition. The ‘Almirah’ was opened and things were scattered.
When they checked found their house was robbed. All gold ornaments and cash were stolen. The Rs. 7,000 was also stolen from the bother-in-law’s bag.
“We have registered FIR (copy available with ABI) under sections 454 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking), 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house) of IPC against unknown accused,” said an officer of Shivaji Nagar police station in Ambernath.
The robbers sprayed some sleep-inducing powder on the dog and entered opening sliding window. They entered home and robbed the valuables.
“Our dog was not acting properly. He was in semi-unconscious condition for the whole day. I also noticed that white powder was strewn near dog,” said Nair.
The deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Vasant Jadhav and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) M. A. Bhakhare also visited the spot. They assured for quick action on robber.
Police is interrogating an air-condition mechanic, who had repaired Nair’s air-condition machine on that very day.
