A gang of seven dacoits attacked on three police constables at Kalwa near Thane, early in the morning around 3am on Tuesday. The injured policemen have been admitted in nearby Prakriti hospital, a private hospital in Kalwa.

According to police, an alert citizen informed police control room as well as the Kalwa police station informing that a gang of dacoits has entered the Matruchaya building in Kalwa. They are indulged in house-breaking.

Three constables Kailas S Basthe, Nandakumar Patil and Ā Vishwas V Walawalkar, Ā rushed to the spot. They found that the seven dacoits were busy in housebreaking. As policemen warned them they attacked with the bricks, weapons, paver blocks and knife etc. Taking the advantage of darkness, the accused managed to escape.

A police officer from Kalwa police station told ABI that Walawalkar and Bashte sustained serious injuries on head.Ā  They were treated at Prakriti a private hospital. Walawalkar has got seven stitches on his head while Basthe has sustained a skull fracture. Patil has got a minor injury on his hand.

An FIR has been registered at Kalwa police station against seven accused. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the dacoits
