DINESH Keshavrao Mhala (47), a Police Constable, Rajapeth Police Station, resident of Dhanvantari Nagar, Dastur Nagar, Amravati was arrested by Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), Amravati for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,500 for not arresting an accused on the orders of the court.

According to the Press Note issued by ACB, Amravati the complainant was an in a fraud case (Section 420 IPC) and the Magistrate Court No. 5, Amravati had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the complainant. The orders of the court were handed over to constable Mhala who demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,500 from the complainant (accused) to not abide by the court orders and arrest him. Mhala was arrested in a trap set by ACB, Amravati on May 12, 2014 around  2:50 pm at Hmalpura, Amravati while accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,500.

Further investigations in the matter are in progress and an FIR has been registered against Mhala under Sections 7(13)(1)(D) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
