ULHASNAGAR is a city located in the Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, 58 km away from Mumbai. The colony of Sindhi migrants in the aftermath of Partition it has rapidly acquired an identity of a hub for smuggling gold and US currency. The Bombay High Court has ordered the Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra to initiate a high level inquiry in alleged gold and USD smuggling rackets.

On March 7, 2017 division bench of Ranjit More and Revti More Dere in Bombay High Court ordered Satish Mathur, DGP, to depute a senior officer for this inquiry acting upon a petition filed by a one Neel Nathani (name changed to protect identity). Neel (24), a resident of Ulhasnagar-1, runs a cloth business in Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai.

“Bombay High Court ordered to set up a high level inquiry on petition filed by Neel. DGP would supervise the investigation,” said Shaila Pandey, a noted criminal lawyer.

In 2012, Neel came in touch with Deepak Suhani to earn some money as he was forced by Deepak’s father Purushottam Suhani. Deepak Suhani is a resident of Khadakpada in Kalyan (West) and is alleged kingpin of gold, USD smuggling gang and human trafficking.

Neel was forced to join gold smuggling gang. He was allegedly tortured and arrested in false rape charge at the behest of Deepak Suhani gang and Kalyan police. It made him file the petition in the High Court. Watch out this place for more information.
