THE Western Naval Command (WNC) is celebrating Navy Day 2014 with a series of activities started from November 1, 2014 which will also provide an opportunity to local populace to have a close interaction with the Indian Navy. Some of the activities are as follows:

The Indian Naval Band – Reputed to giving scintillating  performances in India and abroad, the Naval Band plans to enthrall  the local people as per the following schedule:-

Medical camps : Free Medical camps with specialist doctors from naval hospital, INHS Asvini, will be conducted between 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs on 16 November, 23 November and 29 December at Karanja at Uran, CABS at Mankhurd and Elephanta Island  respectively.

Open Sea Swimming Competition :  An adventurous sporting event, Open Sea Swimming Competition has been scheduled on Wednesday 26th Nov at the INWTC (Naval Sailing Club), Pilot Bunder, Colaba. The competition covering a sea area of 6 km is open for participants above 14 years of age are which will have six categories i.e. Men, Women, Boys under 16, Girls under 16, Special category and Veterans above 50. Ships Open to the Public : Indian Naval war ships will be ‘Open to the Public’ between 1000 to 1700 hrs during 28 – 30 November 14. The entry will be from the Tiger Gate near Ballard Estate. Visitors are advised not to bring camera phones, bags or baggage for security reasons.

 Beating Retreat & Tattoo ceremony :  As a glittering finale to the activities, the ‘Beating Retreat & Tattoo ceremony’ will be on display at the Gateway of India during 02nd to 04th Dec from 5:00 PM onwards. The event can also be witnessed along the Radio Club-Taj Hotel road, Colaba.
