VARSHA Girdhar Bhanushali, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator from Mira-Bhayander in Thane district was on Friday arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.

According to press note issued by ACB Bhanushali (36), who represents ward 14-B, had asked for Rs 1.60 lakh from the complainant to arrange permission to increase the height of his shop. After a little bargain it was agreed that he would pay Rs 50,000 as the first instalment.

Shopkeeper has no willing to pay bribe he approached the ACB and registered complaint.  In the guidance of superintendent of police Sandip Karnik a trap was set and Bhanushali was arrested at her residence while accepting Rs 50,000.

An FIR under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the corporator at a police station in Bhayander.
