THE anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Parbhani on Tuesday has arrested two a police inspector and his assistant for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 25,000.

The accused identified as police inspector Uttam Ramdas Chavan and Constable Amol Wadekar, attached to Gangakhed police station in Parbhani.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Anil Gaikwad, the complainant has a business of Sand supplying. Recently he has got contract to supply Sand in jurisdiction of Gangakhed police station.

On behalf of Police Inspector Uttam Ramdas Chavan his writer Amol Wadekar was demanding Rs 30,000 bribe if he wants to do business in Gangakhed police station’s jurisdiction.

Later Chavan reduced bribe amount Rs 25,000.

Having no wish to give bribe the complainant approached ACB office and registered FIR against them. On August 12, 2014, ACB officials laid a trap and arrested Gaikwad from the police station premises while accepting Rs 25,000 from the Sand contractor.

Gaikwad was accepting bribe on behalf of Wadekar. ACB officials also arrested him.
