THE special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court convicted an assistant labour commissioner, a bank manager, an advocate and a  dumper operator in separate bribery cases.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Convicts

THE Special Judge, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court Mapusa (Goa) on Wednesday has convicted Chaitanya Prakash Audichya, then assistant Labour Commissioner, Goa in disproportionate assets case and sentenced him to undergo two years simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50,000.

According to CBI spokesperson, the CBI had registered a case on the allegations that during the period from 1992 to 2003, Chaitanya Prakash Audichya, then assistant  Labour Commissioner, Goa, acquired  immoveable or moveable assets to the tune of Rs. 42,50,038  against his likely savings to the tune of Rs. 27,93,363. He was in possession of disproportionate assets to an extent of Rs. 14,56,675 to his known sources of income.

The chargesheet was filed before the Court of Special Judge South Goa, Margao on January 1, 2007.

The trial court found the accused guilty and convicted him.

Bank manager and advocate Convicts

THE special Judge, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case, Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh  has convicted R R Das, the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Patan Branch, Jabalpur and Vikas Bairagi, an advocate in a bribery case and sentenced them to undergo three years rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 5,000 each.

The complainant had alleged that R R Das, the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Patan Branch, Jabalpur was demanding Rs. 5,000 from him for sanctioning and disbursing Central Kisaan Credit Card loan of Rs. 80,000. On September 10, 2007 CBI had  registered a case under section 7 of PC act against the accused.  A trap was laid and Das was caught red handed, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000 from the Complainant. Das after receiving the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000 handed over the same to Vikas Bairagi, the advocate, who was sitting with him at the time of trap.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on March 26, 2008 against Das and Vikas Bairagi in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur under sections 120-B IPC and section 7 and 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act.

Dumper operator Convicts

IN another case, the Special Judge, CBI case, Jabalpur has convicted Ranjeet Kumar, the then Senior Dumper Operator, Jhingurda Project, NCL in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 10,000.

CBI registered a case on July 25, 2011 on a complaint alleging that Ranjeet Kumar, the then Senior Dumper Operator, Jhingurda Project, NCL was demanding Rs. 15,000 from the complainant for allowing smooth lifting of coal against pending delivery order. Thereafter, a trap was laid and the accused Ranjeet Kumar was caught red handed, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant.

The trial court found the accused persons guilty and convicted him.
