A right to information (RTI) reply revealed that Arogyam hospital at Kanjur Marg is functioning without license and registration for the last two years. The various surgical procedures are being conducted in the hospital without requisite license.
Manish Kotian, the chairman of Bhoja Education and Social Trust (B.E.S.T.) had submitted an RTI application (copy available with ABI) on May 17, 2014 in the S-ward of BMC demanding information if Arogyam hospital at Kanjur Marg (east) has proper license? On May 23, 2014 S-ward of BMC replied (copy available with ABI) that hospital (Arogyam) is not registered under Mumbai Nursing Home Act.
“I was shocked to see the reply of BMC that Arogyam Hospital is functioning without license and registration for two years,” said Kotian.
On June 9, Kotian complained (copy available with ABI) to the BMC Commissioner and Health officer (F South Ward) demanding action on hospital but no action was taken. Kotian alleged that the all illegal activities are running in the knowledge of the medical officer S-ward, Dr Sachin Bhosale.
“Bhosale and concerned BMC officers are corrupt. They extort money from hospital and allowed to run illegally. Action should be taken on Bhosale also,” said Kotian.
“Matter is in our notice. We are taking the necessary action on hospital,” said Sachin Bhosale, health officer, S-ward, BMC.
The Hospital is admitting patients of all sorts. Various surgical procedures are being conducts in the hospital without requisite license.
After repeated attempts Dr Jitendra Chaudhary was not available for comment. Even he did not reply our text SMS. Chaudhary’s wife Archana who regularly operates eyes in hospital said, “I did not run any hospital.”
