The officials of Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Mumbai police Crime branch on Tuesday have seized 2,640 bottles of Rexcof cough syrup. Police have arrested Asad Ashraf Abbas Ahmed Syed and Rajan Santosh Singh in to the matter.
The seized Rexcof syrup’s total market value is Rs 3, 16,800. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. They were produced in local court on Wednesday where judge remanded them in police custody till June 16.
According to police the cough syrup was transported from Jalgaon to Parel bus depot, Mumbai. The seized syrup contains Codeine Phosphate is a H1 scheduled drug. It’s consumption without doctor’s prescription is an offense. Police claimed that Rexcof has become a major attraction among college students, youngsters and drug addicts.
