A 37-year-old sweeper in Jaslok hospital has been arrested on Thursday for stealing two diamond rings worth of Rs. 3, 50,000 from a patient’s wife.

The accused identified as Kanti Palji Vilas.

According to Nisar Tamboli, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) zone-2, a lady Leela Shankarlal Mundra has admitted her husband in Jaslok hospital for treatment. She lodged a complaint on Wednesday in Gamdevi police station against unknown person of theft of two diamond rings and gold chain worth of Rs 3, 50,000.

Police registered FIR under section 379 of IPC and started investigation.

During investigation police suspects on sweeper Kanti Palji Vilas who works on 11th floor of the hospital. After thoroughly interrogation Vilas confessed the offense.

Police also recovered two diamond rings worth of Rs 3, 00,000 from his possessions.

Further investigation is going on.
