THE Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB), Thane have started proceedings against three constables-Vishwas Khot, Vasudeo Suroshi and Nandeshwar Dalvi-attached to the Murbad police station for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.

According to ACB officials, Suroshi and Dalvi demanded a bribe of Rs. 25,000 for helping to the complainant in a chapter case registered against him. After a bargain the two settled for an amount of Rs. 5,000. Unwilling to pay the bribe the complainant approached ACB, Thane for registering a complaint against them.

On April 30, 2014 around 12.45pm the ACB officials laid a trap to arrest the duo at the police station. The accused Khot accepted the bribe amount from the complaint in an open space opposite the gate of Murbad police station and fled on a motor bike with Suroshi and handed the bribe amount to a private person near Gamdevi Temple. The bribe amount was recovered from the private person. Further investigations in the matter is in process.
