AT a time when the Kolsewadi police in Kalyan (East), Thane district, Maharashtra needs to save face in the wake of a CORRUPTION charges, it seems to have absolutely no concern with its beating image. The officers at Kolsewadi police station contented themselves by filing a mere MISSING complaint, when it was a clear case of ROBBERY.

A 26-year-old Dhiraj Lalataprasad Mishra, who happens to be a resident of Kolsewadi, Kalyan (East) has complained (complaint copy with ABI) against the Kolsewadi police to Assistant Commissioner Of Police (ACP) demanding that an FIR should be registered and also action be taken on Duty Officer who avoided to register FIR.

According to the complainant, Dhiraj Mishra is employee of ‘Kinsey Healthcare LLP Company’, which is based in Baner, Pune. He travels per day up and down from Kalyan to Pune. On December 17, 2016 around 3.30 am, he was on his way back home. He reached near Sai Baba Temple, Kolsewadi police station chowk, when two robbers came on a motorbike and robbed him off his mobile phone (model Lenovo A 7000) worth of Rs 10,000.

The following day, Mishra approached the Kolsewadi police station to register FIR, but, failed. All the policemen who were present at police station ‘announced’ when he knew that his mobile would be not traceable back, then, why was he lodging a complaint. The policemen were giving different excuses in order to avoid registering an FIR.
“Sab policewale mujhe ye samjhane lage ki mobile to milega nahin, phir complaint kyon kar raha hai. Chor to SIM nikalkar uspe white power laga dega jis se IMEI number bhi trace nahin hoga,” said Mishra.

However, despite repeated attempts, the police gave him a form called ‘Self Announcement Letter.’ The form claimed that he lost his mobile phone all by himself. Very interestingly, the said form had a notice in last that stated that the “above contents are personal and true”. If found wrong, then, action will be taken under sections 193 (2), 199, 200 of CRPC on complainant.

“Finally, I complained to the ACP demanding immediate action on the policemen who avoided registering an FIR of the robbery. I have planned to file suit into the matter, if authority fails to take action against the culprit,” said Mishra.

“Actually police isliye FIR nahin darj karti ki wo dikhana chahti hai ki uski area me crime nahin ho rahe hain. Kolsewadi police isme to bahut maahir hai. Uske officers to extortion aur bribe lene me busy rahte hain. Waqt aane par iska saboot main de sakta hoon,” said a social worker.

When contacted Kalyan Ghete, Senior Inspector of the Kolsewadi police station said, “I am on leave.”
